Researcher, musicologist and journalist. He holds a degree in Diplomacy from the University of La Habana. Poet, musician and writer, he is recognized in our country for his multiple and valuable works in these fields of culture.
He was an admirer of music. That is why he studied guitar and percussion with Vicente González Rubiera and Walfredo de los Reyes, respectively. As an artist he was part of the group Jóvenes del Cayo, and the orchestras Habana Jazz and Casablanca.
Orovio is considered an academy within the national sound panorama. His valuable texts constitute required materials for those who decide to investigate or study the melody of the Island, where special merit is attributed to his Diccionario de la Música Cubana.
The researcher also demonstrated the generic greatness of Creole music with Trescientos boleros de oro, La Rumba, El carnaval habanero and Breve historia de la música cubana, among other monographs.
Known and recognized researcher, who as such has worked at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba. As a poet and ethnomusicologist, he has published:
