Pediatric nephrologist who worked at the National Reference Center for Pediatric Nephrology for more than 20 years.
She began her medical studies in 1976 at the Universidad de Santiago de Cuba. In August 1982, upon completing the 5th year of the program in response to a call from Minsap, she joined the group of students selected to complete their internship in the Republic of Nicaragua, and was assigned to the department of Estelí, until graduating in that sister country as a physician on August 27, 1983, and where she continued working as a general practitioner until September 25, 1984, when she returned to Cuba.
That year she began her Pediatrics residency at Hospital Docente "Pedro Borrás", and upon completing the first year, she chose to specialize in General Nephrology, which she began in 1986 at the Instituto de Nefrología, and completed on November 25, 1988.
Subsequently she was assigned to Hospital Docente Pediátrico Centro Habana, National Reference Center for Pediatric Nephrology, as a First Grade Specialist in Nephrology, where she worked until 2008, the year in which she had to retire for health reasons.
In 2007 she had obtained the status of Second Grade Specialist in Nephrology, and that same year she completed the coursework for the Master's degree in Comprehensive Child Care.
During her years of work, she was involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching. She was a professor of the Diploma in Pediatric Nephrology for 16 years and author of the teaching program. She participated in a significant number of national and international congresses in the specialties of Pediatrics and Nephrology, in which she presented more than 200 works as author or co-author. In addition, she was a professor in courses and workshops organized by the Nephrology Service of the National Reference Center for Pediatric Nephrology, where she gave lectures.
She also published articles in specialty journals and participated as an author in the first and second editions of the book Temas de Pediatría, by Professor Santiago Valdés Martín, and as author of volume V of the Treatise on Pediatrics by Cuban authors.
Among her many qualities and virtues, she stood out for her great human sensitivity and her simplicity, always affable and with an unwavering sense of camaraderie, always maintaining excellent human relations and excellent attitude toward work. Regarding her preparation as a physician, there is no doubt that she was an excellent health professional.
