Darío Martin García

Native of Havana, Cuba, Darío Martín is a pianist graduate from the Higher Institute of Art in Havana with a Gold Diploma in 2011. He is currently receiving training for a Diploma in Piano Performance under the guidance of maestro Joaquín Achúcarro at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Darío belongs to a family of musicians and has won first prizes in several national and international competitions in Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States.

The most recent award was First Prize in the José Jacinto Cuevas International Competition sponsored by Yamaha Piano held in Mexico, and Second Prize in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition in Austin, Texas.

Martín has given recitals as a soloist and in chamber music in Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica, United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States of North America. He has performed as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, the Chamber Orchestra of Havana, and the Symphony Orchestra of Yucatan, among others. He has participated in many music festivals in Europe and Latin America.

His first CD was released in 2011 and received the Cubadisco award for Best Classical Soloist Album.
