Carmen Rosa López has been the director since 1993 of the Coro Diminuto.
Endowed with great mastery, the renowned pedagogue has a rich trajectory in choral work with children, in teaching songs to preschool-aged children, in the development of children's creativity and in teaching the role of body expression in choir singing, experiences with which she has represented Cuba in various international events.
The choir of these little ones is based in one of the most prestigious music schools in our country: the Alejandro García Caturla. There they all study various musical instruments and participate in collective singing as part of their academic training.
The vocal group has six musical productions created with great figures of Cuban and international songwriting such as Silvio Rodríguez, Omara Portuondo, Chucho Valdés, Waldo Mendoza, Descemer Bueno and Olga Tañón.
Furthermore, they have participated on three occasions in the International Choir Festival and in the reception of the three Popes who have visited the country.
Among the recognitions received by the choral director are the "Los Zapaticos de Rosa" Award, 2005, Flora Marianense Medal, 2005, as well as the Award for Best Artistic Production at the XIV Seminar of Martiano Studies, ISA, 1986. Grand EGREM Prize for Noel Nicola's Tricolor Christmas Album, 1989. Diploma for the 60th Anniversary of the Gran Teatro de la Habana, 1998. Grand Prize in the School Music Choirs category at the "Voces del Mañana" Festival, 1998, 1999. Cuban Children's Music Prize Cubadisco 99 for the Album "Niños Cantores de Cuba".
A graduate in music with a specialization in choral direction, Carmen Rosa has followed in the footsteps of her teacher, the Director of the National Choir of Cuba, Digna Guerra. Her contribution to the creation of the Choral Singing specialty and to the Choral Singing Program taught in art schools has been important, and she is the creator and organizer of the Choir Festival "Voces del Mañana", organized to promote the development of children's and youth choral groups that, since 1997, with a competitive nature, is held annually in La Habana.
She is a music teacher at the Instituto Superior de Arte (Faculty of Performing Arts), the National School of Art and the Instituto Superior Pedagógico (Musical Education) Faculty of Artistic Education.
The music performed by the choir under Carmen Rosa's direction, with innocent mischief, is related to children's songwriting and traditional Cuban music; likewise, Ibero-American works are part of its repertoire.
Her students recorded a CD, which became the first digital album of children's literature: La isla del Coco y las aventuras del Capitán Plin. They later created "Columpio"; with the Bis Music label, this recording addresses jazz as its central axis, although it covers other sounds such as pop, waltz and zamba.
"Niños Cantores de Cuba", which earned her a Cubadisco Award, and "Canciones de Pepito el de los cuentos", an album with songs by Roberto Valera, complete the recording history of the Coro Diminuto under Carmen Rosa's direction. The three recordings are part of the Bis Music catalog.
Carmita has been dedicating herself to these children for more than 20 years, children who come and go, who grow and move away, but just as she did with her former teacher, tomorrow one of them will continue this work, these words of gratitude for what was learned and of commitment to the youngest children of our people.
She has become popular for her participation as a judge on Cuban TV programs, the ColmenaTV.
The choir and Carmen Rosa have welcomed many voices and
