Anselmo Abdo Rodríguez

He completed his primary studies in his native province. He was sent to the United States in April 1958 for being persecuted for his activities against the Batista tyranny. He traveled to Spain in October of that year where he remained collaborating with the Movement 26 of July and the Revolutionary Directorate until his return on January 14, 1959.

He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of La Habana in December 1966, he began his working life at the rural hospital "Fausto Favier" in Palenque, Yateras, II Eastern Front Frank País, where he directed several health centers. He remained there one more year after completing his rural social service and began his residency in Allergology in July 1970 at the "General Calixto García" Hospital where he continued working until his death.

He graduated as a specialist in Allergology in September 1974 and obtained a position through competitive examination. He served as head of the Allergy department from 1983 to 2001 and was also its principal professor.

He was a professor of numerous courses in Internal Medicine, Allergy and Immunology within and outside the country as well as a tutor and opponent of numerous research projects.

He participated in several international events, among them:
- International Meeting of Asthmology. La Habana, Cuba, 1970.
- Allergology Meeting of socialist countries. Hungary, October 1992.
- Interasma World Congress. Mexico, October 1984.
- XII World Congress of Asthmology. Barcelona, October 1987.
- II Pan-American Congress of pediatric allergy and immunology. Sao Paulo, Brasil, March 1995.
- XI International Congress of allergy and immunology. Cancún, Mexico, October 1997.
- Biotechnology. Cuba, November 1999.

Member of national and international associations. He was secretary of the National Group of Allergology of Minsap, of the Cuban Society of Allergology, being a member since 1974 and also its president for several years.

He published numerous papers in national and foreign journals.

He collaborated as a physician in Angola from 2001, returning to his work as an allergist and professor in 2004. He trained dozens of allergists from all the provinces of the country throughout his entire career.
