Ángel Alderete Gómez

Cuban director of photography. He made his debut as a documentary director in 2005. He studied painting at the Academia San Alejandro, and animation drawing and underwater photography at the Escuela Internacional de Buceo.

From 1972 to 1982, he worked as a photographer on no fewer than 40 documentaries. He has also carried out multiple advertising projects for companies and hotel chains: PRESS TOURS, MELIÁ, Cubanacán, PUBLICIMEX and HORIZONTES.

He has been a correspondent (photo-reporter) in several African countries. Cameraman for Cuban television newscasts and the CBC Agency.

He has taught seminars and lectures on his specialty in various countries: Germany, Ecuador, Russia, Spain, France, among others.

He has worked as a professor at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. He is currently a Full Professor at the Film School of the Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba (ISA). Member of the Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC) and the Asociación Española de Autores de Obras Fotográficas Cinematográficas.

He worked with American director of photography Haskell Wexler in January 1998, on the occasion of Pope John Paul II's visit to Cuba. The following year they repeated this work experience on the documentary Music Bridges, about the meeting between Cuban and American musicians, held in La Habana in 1999. Equally notable is his participation as director of photography in memorable series of Cuban television.

He made his directorial debut in 2005 with Iré Habana, a documentary produced by SGAE.
