Alfredo Álvarez Rivero

He is a Doctor in Dentistry graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Superior Institute of Medical Sciences of La Habana in 1973.

He takes the exams and obtains the title of Specialist of 1st degree in Prosthodontics in 1981. He later obtains the category of Specialist of 2nd degree in Prosthodontics in 1988.

He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Medical Sciences La Habana. He has served as a professor since 1981. He holds the category of Assistant Researcher at the Center for Medical-Surgical Research, CIMEQ.

He is a full member and vice president of the Cuban Society of Prosthodontics, Vice president of the section of Facial Rehabilitation and BMF Prosthodontics of the Cuban Society of Prosthodontics.
Full member of the Cuban Society of Maxillofacial Surgery.

Founding Member of the Caribbean Medical Association (AMECA).

He serves as head of the Buccomaxillofacial Prosthodontics service at CIMEQ.

Author of 12 specialty books. He has participated as a tutor or advisor in 45 scientific papers.

President of the Organizing Committee for 23 consecutive years of the International Meeting on Facial Rehabilitation and Buccomaxillofacial Prosthodontics at the Center for Medical-Surgical Research (CIMEQ)

He has received various distinctions and decorations, among which the following stand out:

Reproduction of the coin on whose obverse is registered the name of BRIXIA and which was minted in commemoration of the free Community of Brescia from 1250 to 1332.
It is awarded to foreign personalities for their scientific contribution to the international community.

Recently he was elected First Vice President of the Latin American Society for Facial Rehabilitation and Buccomaxillofacial Prosthodontics for the period 2012-2016.
