Alexis Schlachter Antolín

Cuban journalist, specialized in scientific topics. Associate Professor at the Instituto Superior Pedagógico "Rubén Martínez Villena". He devoted a large part of his time to geographic research, from which "Geografía Sorprendente" emerged as a section of a radio program and later as a book of the same name, and he also hosted the program "La Otra Geografía".

His versatility allowed him to develop in print, radio, and television media.

He was a reporter for the newspaper Granma, a medium in which he directed the page "Reto a la imaginación", dedicated to science and technology.

For years he was in charge of the Revista Semanal de Radio Reloj and several programs on stations such as Radio Rebelde, Radio Progreso, and Radio Habana Cuba.

He left his mark as creator, scriptwriter, and host of the popular Cuban television program "La otra geografía", which achieved high audience ratings.

In his role as researcher, he made relevant contributions to knowledge of the scientific culture of José Martí and the German influence on the Apostle's work. He published books and numerous articles on these topics.

His work as president of the Circle of Scientific Journalists of Cuba also stood out.

He was a professor in the Communication program at the Universidad de La Habana and a lecturer in international courses, invited by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture.

He represented Cuba at events of the Ibero-American Organization of Scientific Journalism and at meetings related to science communication in countries in Europe and Asia.

Awards and recognition
He received various awards from the Unión de Periodistas de Cuba (UPEC), the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC), the Sociedad Cultural José Martí, and the Ministerio de Ciencia Tecnología y Medio Ambiente, among other recognitions.

He was awarded the Premio a la Obra de la Vida granted by the Scientific Journalism Competition "Gilberto Caballero" 2012.
