Cameraman for Cuban Television, official photographer of the Spanish Ballet of Cuba, member of UPEC and UNEAC, collaborates as a photographer with the newspapers Juventud Rebelde, Granma, Granma Internacional, Prensa Latina, Tribuna de la Habana, Trabajadores and Bohemia magazine. He is one of five children of Fidel Castro Ruz and Dalia Soto del Valle.
Graduate in Engineering in Electrochemical Industry Technology from Moscow. He currently holds the degree of Master in Sciences. He began in photography in 1976 in a self-taught manner, and dedicated himself to this activity at the Lenin Vocational School during the 1978–1979 school year.
From 1998 onwards, and to the present day, he has worked as a cameraman for Cuban TV. As a means of advancement, he studied in this specialty. He has participated in the production of various documentaries and regular programs of Cuban TV, such as the Cubans in the Spotlight series. He has made several documentaries as director of photography. One of them, Urban Agriculture in Cuba, won an award at the 2006 International Scientific Film Festival, held in Paris.
He is a member of UPEC and UNEAC, collaborates as a photographer with the newspapers Juventud Rebelde, Granma, Granma Internacional, Prensa Latina, Tribuna de la Habana, Trabajadores and Bohemia magazine.
His photographs were used for the 2006 Martiana Agenda, created as a tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro's 80th birthday, and in the book Knowing Wine, which was selected in 2007 as No. 1 in the world in its subject.
He is currently the official photographer of the Spanish Ballet of Cuba and works as a cameraman and director of photography at Mundo Latino studios.
His photography covers a vast range of subjects as his work with the lens ranges from landscapes, mass events, political figures, sports, cultural events, nature, to fashion design photographs. His photographs are part of private collections in several countries.
