Aldo Roberto Rodríguez Baquero

Al2, El Aldeano

El Aldeano is a singer and composer highly recognized for forming the duo Los Aldeanos alongside Bian Oscar Rodríguez Gala, better known as "El B".

As a young man he practiced swimming, with which he won a scholarship. Shortly after, he decided to abandon the sports field to study music, especially playing the saxophone, at the Manuel Saumell vocational school, but due to the difficulty in buying instruments, he decided to withdraw from those studies.

Later he begins his first music projects alongside Bian Rodríguez in February 2003, creating the project that would mark a before and after in hip hop culture in Cuba and internationally called Los Aldeanos.

His first presentation was in Cinco Palmas, La Lisa, with approximately 10 people as an audience but which in the coming years would set a precedent in Cuba's national history, beyond the rap sphere.

Musical Genre of Aldo El Aldeano
His songs revolve around society, reality, love, rhymes and imagination. Aldo has used the hip hop cultural genre as a tool to express his discontent with reality in the world in all aspects, carrying a message of hope and strength. For him the music he makes is his life, his death, his laughter, his tears, his eyes, his soul, the world.

In his artistic career he has accumulated more than twenty-six record productions, raising his voice worldwide with social criticism and themes that demonstrate day-to-day life in the world, from different perspectives.

Trajectory and Legacy of Aldo El Aldeano
In 2003 he debuted his first musical production with Los Aldeanos, which was titled "Censurados", composed of a total of 13 tracks, produced by the 26 Musas studios and recorded at the Home Studio Real 70, founded and led by Papá Humbertico, MC and music producer. With this work they won the Rap Plaza award and catapulted their success.

Their next albums began to be sold at the same live presentations they were having. Later, in 2008 they were deserving of the Best Rap Group recognition at the Cuerda Viva Festival and in 2009 they won four awards at the first edition of the Los Puños Arriba event, thanks to their album "El Atropello" (2009).

The song "La Naranja Se Picó" kept them censored for more than three years, which marked a polarization of the duo against legal and cultural authorities, so much so that El B was censored for the Venezuela 2007 and Mexico 2008 Cock Fighting Battles.

By July of that same year they are invited to the Exit Festival in Serbia, this being Los Aldeanos' first presentation outside of Cuba. Subsequently there would be presentations at InterRapción and Miradas Doc in Spain, Hip Hop Al Parque in Colombia and Los Que No Van A Morir in the United States.

During this period they recorded a documentary titled "Revolution" in which they narrate the censorship situation that Los Aldeanos went through, which won several awards at the Young Filmmakers Exhibition. In fiction, the teleplay Güajiro stars El Aldeano and El B in the main characters, integrating the set of audiovisual records around the work of Los Aldeanos.

Shortly after they undertake a tour through countries such as Venezuela, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Argentina and the Canary Islands, in addition to a concert at La Madriguera on December 15, 2012, in tribute to their 10 years of artistic career.

By March 2013 they begin recording under the Soul Assassin record label from the United States, including a tour through the cities of Tampa, Las Vegas and Miami.

In 2014 El Aldeano begins a new stage in his career, this time as a solo artist and music producer, with several presentations at The place and Lost in Miami, and shortly after he launches his albums "Musik" and later "Duendes", in addition to the official presentation of his website www.al2elaldeano.com.

In September of that same year he resumes his tour through Peru and the following year (2015) he goes on a tour through Colombia, titled "Colombia Es Aldea", which was quite well received by the public of that country.

Along with MC Silvito El Libre –with whom he recorded the album Los KbaYros in 2009– he performs, in December 2013, the concert and presentation of the album De los altos del Barbaran; a compilation of their most listened to songs.

The year 2014 means for El Aldeano another transcendental cycle in his career as MC and Music Producer, which begins with the concerts at The place and Lost in Miami (in honor of the Rotilla Festival), both in Miami. In addition to this are the launches of his personal albums Musik (in March) and Duendes (in July), and the Los Aldeanos concert at La Madriguera in Miami.

In September he resumes his international tour in Peru and returns in October for the launch of the first tracks from his next album Hiphop con100cia.

In 2015 he goes on a tour through Colombia called "Colombia es aldea". In November he performs at Línea Dieciséis XL alongside Rapsusklei.

In 2016 he launches the album La Aldea composed of 14 tracks. In the months of May and June he undertakes the La Aldea Tour alongside Silvito El Libre and Gabylonia and then in September he performs solo in 11 cities in Spain.

In the first stage of 2017 El Aldeano continued releasing singles that will belong to his next album Musik Aldeana.

In 2019 the duo celebrated the 10 years of El atropello, one of the albums that marked the group's trajectory, with songs like Niñito cubano, La naranja se picó, Mangos bajitos and the emblematic El rap es guerra.

The members of the duo currently reside in the city of Miami, where they have continued their careers individually and reaped important successes and recognition from the public.

As a solo artist "El Aldeano" has published, among others, the albums Lulo, La Aldea, Recordpilacion. Vol.3 and De los altos del Barbarán.
