Maynard Miranda and Patricio Revé, two of the most talented Cuban dancers of today, will perform as guest stars of the Ballet Estable of Teatro Colón, in a season of ten performances of "Don Quixote", which takes place from July 24 to August 3 at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, one of the most significant stages in the Americas.

Invited by Julio Bocca, the always admired and remembered Argentine dancer, currently artistic director of the company; Maynard Miranda performed on Saturday, July 26 and Tuesday, July 29, alongside Argentine dancer Rocío Agüero, from the cast of the Buenos Aires company, while Patricio Revé dances on July 31 and August 3, alongside fellow Argentine Marianela Núñez, Principal dancer of The Royal Ballet, and one of the most important figures in dance of our time.

Maynard and Patricio received their training in Cuba, under the precepts of the "Cuban school of ballet", of which they are very notable exponents. Both are graduates of the National School of Ballet "Fernando Alonso" in Havana (Maynard began his studies at the Academy of the Arts "Vicentina de la Torre" in Camagüey), joined the National Ballet of Cuba in September 2015, and in March 2016, received the diploma that accredits them as dancer-teachers.

Currently, Maynard Miranda and Patricio Revé are, respectively, Principal dancers of the Ballet Nacional Sodre (Uruguay) and the Queensland Ballet (Australia).

In addition to Marianela, Maynard, and Patricio, for this special season of "Don Quixote", two other dancers have been invited, who will take on the roles of Kitri and Basilio alongside the figures of the Ballet Estable: Argentine María Celeste Losa (from Teatro alla Scala in Milan) and Italian David Motta Soares (from the State Ballet of Berlin)

With music by Ludwig Minkus, to be performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires, under the direction of Maestro Manuel Coves; set design and costume design by Hugo Millán, and lighting design by Pablo Pulido, and inspired by different episodes from Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's novel "Don Quixote of La Mancha", the version of "Don Quixote" by the Ballet Estable of Teatro Colón is due to two beloved figures of that company: Silvia Bazilis and Raúl Candal (fondly remembered in Cuba for their performances in different editions of the International Ballet Festival of Havana), based on the original choreography by Marius Petipa and the version by Alexander Gorski. On this occasion, at the decision of Julio Bocca, the famous "Variation of the Goblets", performed by Basilio, in the version by Mikhail Baryshnikov, has been added to the production.

And when speaking of the first and most famous of the great ballets by Marius Petipa with Spanish themes, one cannot forget that Julio Bocca is, without a doubt, one of the greatest interpreters of Basilio in the history of dance — Oh, that memorable performance with Ofelia González, on November 11, 1990, in the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater — and that the Argentine dancer celebrates this year the 40th anniversary of his Gold Medal at the International Ballet Competition in Moscow, dancing, among other works, the pas de deux "Don Quixote".

The performances of Cuban dancers Maynard Miranda and Patricio Revé in this season have a special significance: this year, both celebrate the 10th anniversary of their professional debut (October 24, 2015, Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba), and in 2025 the Centenary of the Ballet and the other stable companies (Chorus and Orchestra) of the emblematic Teatro Colón is commemorated, companies that are part of what is most ennobling in Argentine history and culture.
