In an interview on the program "Cala," from the American network MegaTV, singer Aymée Nuviola revealed that she has contracted Covid-19.

The Cuban singer and songwriter, Aymée Nuviola, recognized for her interpretation of Celia Cruz in the Colombian novel "Celia" shared with her social media followers that both she and her husband –Paulo Simeon- tested positive on the COVID-19 molecular test.

"It happened a few days ago and, fortunately, I'm already in the final stage of the recovery process," assured the Cuban-American from her home in Miami.

"I realized something strange was happening to me because I had changing moods, going from nervousness to wanting to sleep all the time, until, finally, I lost my sense of smell and taste and decided to get the coronavirus test, which came back positive," Aymée recounted.

With a sense of humor she added that, fortunately, she had not "lost her taste" for her husband and representative, businessman Paulo Simeón.

It was precisely on "Cala" where the singer and actress, known as "La sonera del mundo," who represented her compatriot Celia Cruz in a Telemundo network series, told that Simeón is also suffering from coronavirus.

"My husband is more delicate than me, because he is asthmatic: he's physically weak, has fatigue and is very tired," she announced.

The problem has caught the artist during the promotion of her new album "Viento y tiempo," recorded with the renowned Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba at the Blue Note club in Tokyo.

The pianist, nicknamed "La sonera del mundo," clarified that despite the circumstances she feels well and is following medical instructions.

"It's been a difficult few days, but thank God and the doctors we are stable at home. In recent weeks we have remained active on social media and with my 'lives' every Saturday to continue encouraging you and not alarming you in the midst of this pandemic. We will stay connected as much as we can because it fills us with joy to share with you," said the interpreter of "Dónde estabas anoche."

The Grammy and Latin Grammy award winner shared a message with her fans and urged them to comply with safety measures to avoid contagion with the new coronavirus.

"We ask you to please protect yourselves, because this has not been easy. We thank you for your words of encouragement and your prayers. We will move forward with our faith in God," she concluded.

The Cuban woman has also distinguished herself for her philanthropic and altruistic spirit. She has been collaborating with the League Against Cancer in the city of Miami for more than 12 years. She is also active in activities of the Walk Now for Autism Speaks organization and with several humanitarian organizations in Colombia, Venezuela and Puerto Rico. During Hurricane María's passage through the island, the singer loaded a private plane provided by Gregory Elías and Top Stop Music with food for those affected.
