Unexpected for many, but more than transcendental for the Island's audience, was Cuban musician Aymée Nuviola tying with Puerto Rican Marc Anthony at the Grammy Awards. Both competed in the Best Latin Music Album category; he with Opus and she with A Journey Through Cuban Music. And in a very infrequent result, the award was shared and went home with both.
"We were confident that we had a great album and it was a great honor to be nominated, but it was totally unexpected to win the award tied with Marc. I think that says a lot about the work we've done and I want Marc to know that we are very pleased to share this award with him," declared the Cuban in a press conference.
For Santiago native Aymée Nuviola, this was her second experience at the American Grammy. In 2019, in addition to being nominated for this award, she was also nominated for the Latin Grammys and ranked among Billboard's five "Tropical Album Imprints."
