Miami-based Cuban singer Aymée Nuviola, known as La Sonera del Mundo, has submitted her album Live at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club for consideration by Recording Academy voters in the Best Latin Jazz Album category, according to Isla News PR and El Sol de las Américas. Released August 28, 2026, by Worldwide Entertainment & Music, the set captures nine tracks recorded in July 2025 at the Soho club in London, with arrangements led by Cuban pianist Kemuel Roig.
The recording came together almost by chance: producer Paulo Simeón floated the idea during soundcheck, and the band learned they were being taped only after the first set. The repertoire revisits material from Bonche and Havana Nocturne, plus “Salsa Con Timba” and Chucho Valdés’s “Ese Atrevimiento,” anchored by a 13-minute take on the 1935 classic “Obsesión.” Nuviola won a Grammy in 2020 for A Journey Through Cuban Music.
She is also due on stage Wednesday, October 21, at 8:00 p.m. at Faena Theater in Miami Beach with percussionist Sammy Figueroa as part of the Faena Jazz Series, the venue’s calendar confirms. Tickets start at $80. The booking keeps the Cuban sonera in South Florida’s Latin-jazz spotlight while the London live album seeks Academy votes.
