Cuban Artists Will Be Cultural Ambassadors of the Latin Music Institute

August 9, 2018

The stars of Cuban music Adalberto Álvarez, Edesio Alejandro and César "Pupy" Pedroso will receive the recognition of Cultural Ambassadors from the Latin Institute of Music (ILM), for their long trajectory and professional work.

For the first time, the ILM will send to Havana, between August 14 and 16, its presidents with headquarters in Mexico and the United States to deliver this distinction to the artists in person.

Adalberto Álvarez, Edesio Alejandro and César "Pupy" Pedroso have developed impeccable careers, while making their way in the competitive international artistic landscape.

In addition to enhancing Cuba's name at events outside the Island, these artists have been recognized by Academies such as the Oscars Awards and the Grammys.

The appointments of Cultural Ambassadors is a recognition granted to personalities with extensive creative work and defense of Ibero-American cultural values.

On the other hand, the ILM will also offer the distinction of "Excellence in Radio" to Juan Carlos García del Vallín, director of the popular program Juventud 2000 on Radio Progreso.

In that case, the recognition will be granted for "a lifetime of work as a tireless promoter and cultural researcher in radio, being a continental benchmark," according to an official statement issued by the website of the Latin Institute of Music (ILM).

Cuba is a country that stands out for being a pillar of the arts that has cradled great music stars of all time. Although this is the first time that recognitions of this type have been made to cultural personalities within the Island, it is estimated that in 2019 other artists and promoters of art with fruitful and long trajectories will be incorporated.

"A great honor to receive such a prestigious appointment. Thank you!!!!!!" wrote Adalberto Álvarez through his social networks upon receiving the news.
