Aroldis Chapman reached the sub-leadership in saves in the American League

June 26, 2018

Aroldis Chapman continued in pursuit of his best all-time total by reaching 23 saves in the Yankees' 4-2 victory over the Phillies, thus providing the best news for the Cuban Navy on Monday's action.

The left-hander pitched four outs, struck out three men and allowed a solo home run by Dominican Maikel Franco. His effectiveness is now 1.29 and projects 49 saves by the end of September, 11 more than the high achieved in his career.

Yesterday's saved game allowed him to break the tie with monster Craig Kimbrel and climb to second place in the American League department, only behind Puerto Rican Edwin Díaz (Mariners-28).

For their part, three men achieved multi-hits. These are the cases of Leonys Martín (Tigers, 5-2 with his fifteenth double of the year and a run scored), José Iglesias (Tigers, 4-2) and Yulieski Gurriel (Astros, 4-2 and his 37th RBI).

Meanwhile, with one hit each ended Guillermo Heredia (Mariners, 2-1 with a run scored and two bases) and Aledmys Díaz (Blue Jays, 4-1).

Finally, those who finished without a hit were Adeiny Hechavarría (Rays, 3-0 with a run scored and a walk), Yasmani Grandal (Dodgers, 3-0), Yasiel Puig (Dodgers, 3-0) and Kendrys Morales (Blue Jays, 3-0 and a caught stealing).
