Cuban actress Ana de Armas will be one of the presenters at the Golden Globe Awards to be held next January 10, according to an announcement made this Tuesday by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which awards those honors.

De Armas, nominated in the Best Dramatic Actress category for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the film Blonde, is part of a list that includes other well-known faces from cinema and nominees in this edition, among them Jamie Lee Curtis and Niecy Nash-Betts, as well as Ana Gasteyer, Billy Porter, Quentin Tarantino and Tracy Morgan.

According to a note in Variety magazine, the ceremony that will take place at the Hilton Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, will be hosted by Jerrod Carmichael, and among the attendees are several film stars such as Daniel Craig, Steven Spielberg and Austin Butler, the latter taking on the role of another great American icon: singer Elvis Presley.

The 34-year-old Cuban actress will face strong competition to win her first Golden Globe, as among the nominees are renowned figures such as Viola Davis (The Woman King), Olivia Colman (Empire of Light), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) and Cate Blanchett (Tar), whose performances were also highlighted by critics in 2022.

In Blonde, De Armas managed to transform herself not only into the different characters portrayed by Marilyn, but also notably assumed her existential challenges and conflicts, in addition to the personal problems she had to face throughout her life, according to several specialists.

The Cuban actress achieved a new nomination, as in 2019 she was also a candidate at the Golden Globes for her participation in the cast of the film Knives Out, although she did not win.

This year, the HFPA aims to restore to the Golden Globes the glamour and reputation that once led it to be one of the most important award ceremonies in Hollywood, after being strongly criticized for lack of diversity and ethical problems in its operation.

It also came to light that the ceremony, lasting about three hours, will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock. Among its most anticipated moments will be the tributes to Ryan Murphy, who will receive the fourth Carol Burnett Award, and Eddie Murphy, who will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
