Cuban actress, comedian and television host Aly Sánchez confirmed that her eldest daughter, 14-year-old Sophia Balmaseda, underwent spinal surgery at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami, one of South Florida's leading pediatric medical centers.
On social media, Sánchez thanked fans for their support in the days following the procedure and explained that her priority has been staying by her daughter's side. "Sofi had major spinal surgery," the actress said, without offering further medical details about the diagnosis or the exact date of the procedure.
The actress acknowledged that the process has not been easy for the family. "The days obviously haven't been easy," she admitted, while noting that Sophia is under professional medical follow-up and that her progress has been closely monitored by the specialists handling her case.
According to reports in the days that followed, the teenager began walking with the help of an orthopedic back brace as part of her recovery, a milestone Sánchez shared with followers as a source of relief and hope.
