No one can predict what romantic relationships will be like in the future. But Alexis Valdés dares to do so in "Mi robot sexual", the comedy being presented at Teatro Trail, starting Friday, January 31st, whose plot takes place in 2050.

It is the story of Sergio, an ordinary Cuban who, after going through several romantic failures, desperately visits a psychologist's office in search of a solution to his problem.

To his surprise, the expert recommends the company of Julia, a sex robot that will make his life more pleasant for the rest of his days.

Despite his initial skepticism, the patient will end up accepting the relationship with the "woman," without imagining what lies ahead.

"Everything changes when Sergio begins to get tired of living in an ideal world. As the days go by, he will realize that he prefers a woman of flesh and blood, someone who differs from his criteria, and is not simply a sex machine," said Alexis, who for the first time in his career will share direction with a colleague, Yusnel Suárez, known for his productions in Microteatro Miami.

Regarding the origin of the work, Valdés explained that the idea came from reading Love and Sex with Robots, a book by David Levy, which advocates for that possibility as a solution for those people who are alone or are victims of society's cruelties.

"When I read it, his approach caught my attention. Then many doubts assailed me regarding the power of technology, which, although it advances toward unthinkable places, will not be able to substitute for love, the most important feeling we have," said Alexis, after affirming that there is nothing comparable to sitting and contemplating the sea as a couple.

"All those questions are floating in the work, because many of us wonder what would happen if we invented a being similar to us," he added.

When comparing his new comedy with the trilogy of Oficialmente Gay, his most successful work, Alexis said that they are related in the treatment of humor.
