Cuban bassist, singer and producer Alain Pérez is promoting "Ya no vale," a heartbreak salsa he sings as a duet with Puerto Rican star Tito Nieves. The track, part of his album Bingo, is the follow-up single to "La moneda" and leans on a punchy horn section and the Afro-Cuban groove that has defined the Trinidad-born musician. Pérez has said he wrote the song with his father more than 20 years ago.
The release sets up two dates in Venezuela as part of Tropicalia 2026. He plays the Palacio de Eventos in Maracaibo on November 14, then Wynwood Park in Valencia on Saturday, December 12, sharing the bill with Óscar D'León, Tito Nieves and Venezuelan singer Luis Fernando Borjas. Organizers expect a crowd of up to 12,000.
It will be his first concert in Valencia, and he is bringing an orchestra of young Cuban musicians. "I'm coming from Cuba with my orchestra, with my people, with an incredible group of young talent," he told local press. Borjas added that the two are recording a song together that they may debut that night.
A former member of Chucho Valdés's Irakere and the bassist in Paco de Lucía's sextet for more than a decade, Pérez has worked with Celia Cruz, Isaac Delgado and Enrique Morente and is a Latin Grammy winner.
Music, Singer, Guitarist, Pianist, Composer, Producer, Arranger, Musician, Society
Alain Pérez is a contemporary popular Cuban musician, singer, guitarist, bass player, percussionist, pianist, composer, producer and Cuban arranger, associated with the jazz scene, and boasts an extensive discography. His talent has allowed him to work with Cuban musical groups and musicians of the caliber of Irakere, Van Van, Isaac Delgado and his Group, Paquito de Rivera and Celia Cruz. Twenty years of life and work in Spain working with many of the world's greatest musicians failed to modify his accent, nor did they cause him to lose simplicity and Cuban essence.
