One of the most popular Cuban artists of the moment, Cimafunk, performed in New York at a major free concert in Central Park, alongside La India and several DJs.

Last March, Cimafunk successfully completed a tour through several cities in the United States, including New York, and received praise from numerous specialized publications, as well as favor from the public.

With his mixture of funk rhythms and other genres, fused with urban trends and Cuban sounds, he set the New York scene in motion during his previous performances here.

Now he returned for a free concert in Central Park, and was accompanied by Puerto Rican singer La India, who is known as the Princess of Salsa.

The Summer Stage of that famous park is a very popular venue during this summer season and hundreds of people gather there for its concerts.

Cimafunk made his debut in this country at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas, where he attracted the interest of important names in the music industry.

The tour, organized by American businessman Collin Laverty, who promotes actions in favor of trade and investment between the United States and Cuba, included stops in Washington, New York, New Orleans, Chicago, Asheville, Nashville, Charleston, Atlanta, Miami, Providence, Hartford, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

With his debut album Terapia, Cimafunk won over Cuban and international audiences with singles like Me voy and Paciente.

Last January, the Cuban was one of the Latin artists that the American entertainment magazine Billboard recommended listening to in 2019.

According to the publication, Cimafunk brought a new stamp to the music scene in Havana, by bringing funk to Afro-Cuban rhythms, embracing the enduring energy of the island's music and mixing genres like timba and trova.

Cimafunk arrived at Central Park in New York to offer Terapia, funk and Cuban music: performing in that place is now a dream come true, although many more remain.

Along with songs from his debut album Terapia, the Cuban artist previewed several tracks he is working on now, as a form of experimentation, to have fun and see what people like, he told Prensa Latina.

Paciente, Me voy and Ponte pa´ lo tuyo put movement into Sunday evening in New York at the Summer Stage of Central Park, one of the iconic places in this city.

Eric 'Cimafunk' also presented new productions that follow the formula that led him to success, a mixture of Cuban rhythms, funk and catchy choruses, because what's important is that people have fun and enjoy it, he expressed.

The same in Cuba, as here, as in any other country, I like to see how people react to the songs to know if I'm doing well, said the singer who managed to slip into international stages after becoming a musical phenomenon on his island.

In fact, last January, Cimafunk was one of the Latin artists that the American entertainment magazine Billboard recommended listening to in 2019.

La India also brought flavor and salsa to the Summer Stage with several of her greatest hits, such as Vivir lo nuestro, and paid tribute to Cuban musical tradition with El Yerbero.

For Cimafunk, sharing the stage with that Puerto Rican singer is another one of the joys of his performance at Central Park.
