Yuli Gurriel got multiple hits and now has an indisputable [record] in nine of the last 14 games he has played with Miami.
The Marlins (31-28) easily defeated the Oakland Athletics (12-48) this Saturday, June 3rd at loanDepot Park stadium in Little Havana. The home team won with a score of 12 to 1 in a great afternoon for Eury Pérez and an offense of 14 hits.
The Dominican starter threw five innings without runs, four hits allowed, one walk and five strikeouts. The rookie reached his 3rd victory of the season.
The most outstanding at bat was Luis Arráez. The Venezuelan continues leading batters in the Major Leagues (.390 AVG) after connecting five hits in five at-bats with an equal number of RBIs and three doubles. Arráez is the first player in Marlins history with five hits, five RBIs and three doubles in the same game. He is also the first among batters born in Venezuela.
Yuli Gurriel hit two home runs, his 5th multi-hit game in the last 14 contests. The Cuban raised his line to .277/.340/.409 (AVG/OBP/SLG) as a result of 38 hits in 137 at-bats including five doubles, two triples and three home runs.
The 2nd of the night was a double with a connection hugging the left field foul line off a change-up below from reliever Lucas Erceg. The hit that came in the 8th inning brought Jesús Sánchez to third base. Then both scored.
It was the double number 211 in Yuli Gurriel's Major League career. With that amount he tied Cuban baseball legend Tito Fuentes in the historical ranking for players born in Cuba. Now both occupy 19th place.
In 18th is Yuniesky Betancourt with 218. The all-time leader is Rafael Palmeiro with 585.
