The Cuban Boxing Federation reported that athlete Yoenlis Hernández Feliciano abandoned the delegation attending the world championship recently concluded in Tashkent.
"During the return to the homeland, during a stopover in Panama, the double world champion decided not to continue his trip to Havana, which implies his break with the national team and with the competitive commitments contracted for this and upcoming seasons," said the FCB in a statement.
This young Cuban boxer, 25 years old, "was the only champion (75 kg) at the recently concluded Tashkent 2023 World Championship."
According to records, "there have already been 11 abandonments by Cuban athletes in 2023," in sports such as karate, rowing, hockey, and boxing.
