Comedian and theater director Alexis Valdés and singer Willy Chirino premiered last Monday "Yo soy cubano", a song that celebrates the Cuban diaspora.
The song published on YouTube highlights Cubanness as a virtue and a special condition that is never lost, despite the fact that those born on the island have emigrated for decades to other regions of the world.
The song features, among other musicians, the acclaimed trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and actress Claudia Valdés. "Yo soy cubano" is a salsa song with the voice of Willy Chirino and the trumpet of Arturo Sandoval, the recording was made in different countries and cities around the world as a display of "national pride and dignity," and reclaims the "Cubanness" of "all of us who live outside of Cuba," explained its author, comedian Alexis Valdés.
