A piece of news that has caused a stir in the Cuban baseball world is the arrival of Yasmany Tomás, the former major leaguer who played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, to the Industriales de La Habana training sessions, the team from his native province.

Tomás, who resides in the U.S., took advantage of the elimination of the repatriation process for Cuban athletes living outside the island and showed up at the "Latinoamericano" stadium with the objective of strengthening the blues in the postseason of the 62nd National Series.

Sports journalist Boris Luis Cabrera was the first to break the news on his Facebook profile, where he posted some photos of Tomás on "the grass of the Latinoamericano stadium with his Industriales" and announced "his incorporation and the possible arrival of another important figure to the squad".

For his part, Guillermo Carmona, the director of Industriales, expressed his satisfaction at having the slugger based in the U.S., but also asked not to put too much pressure on him.

"His arrival is undoubtedly very important for the team, but we got here without Tomás. We can't now put everything on him, he's just another player who is going to help us because he's a great athlete who has played in the best baseball in the world, besides being a first-class Industrialista, and he's going to give everything on the field," said Carmona.

The manager also noted that Tomás was just another player and that "just as he can hit a home run he can strike out". "He's a great athlete, a good player, but you can't ask more from him than what he can contribute. He's going to do everything in his power to help and cooperate, he has the desire," he added.

The Facebook sports page "Por la Goma" also echoed Tomás's presence at the capital's stadium and described him as "The Blue Tank". "As we announced yesterday, Yasmany Tomás 'without dusting off from the road' joined this morning the training sessions with his beloved INDUSTRIALES. The capital's fans will surely be very happy with this news. WE HAVE THE BLUE TANK!", they wrote.
