There are several Cuban actresses appearing in series currently available on Netflix. Among the Caribbean women with a presence on the planet's main streaming site, the cases that have been most talked about include Yany Prado, one of the protagonists of Sky Rojo, created by the creator of the successful La casa de papel; Laura Ramos, one of the most recognizable faces of the Spanish Entrevías; Yare Santana, who has gained prominence for her role in the telenovela Café con aroma de mujer, as well as Jacqueline Arenal in the Colombian Pálpito.
However, little has been published in the media about actress and singer Yanet Sierra Muñoz, who has been residing in Spain for approximately two and a half decades, and who can also be seen on the aforementioned global audiovisual content platform.
According to what she confessed in an interview with ADN Cuba, during her time in her homeland, the native of Placetas, Villa Clara, graduated from the National School of Art (ENA) and, while part of an orchestra, traveled to the Iberian country and decided to settle there. She first lived in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where she was part of the casts of several theatrical pieces and participated in some television projects before moving to Madrid.
It has not always been easy for her to make a living from her two great passions, so during a brief period she had to work in a paper store. "I became depressed, my soul withered," she said in the aforementioned conversation, although she insisted that most of the time she has been able to support herself through her ventures in the artistic world.
Her Netflix debut came with Sky Rojo, a project she landed without going through a casting process, and she became the mother of Gina (Yany Prado). She appeared in three episodes (two in the first season and one in the third and final season). Before that, she had participated in two famous Spanish series such as La Templanza and Mar de plástico (in the latter her compatriot Yaima Ramos also appeared).
In recent months we have been able to enjoy her through the role of Colombian Damarys, featured in all eight chapters of the fourth installment of El pueblo, a humorous series available on Amazon Prime Video, where she falls in love with Arsacio (Vicente Gil), one of the protagonists of the narrative. She also recently appeared as a taxi driver in Mentiras pasajeras, produced by the renowned filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar and available on SkyShowtime.
Her television career also includes appearances in the acclaimed La que se avecina, as well as in Centro médico, El juramento de Punta Brava and Las cosas de Paco y Maricarmen. On stage she has an immense trajectory, during which she has been directed, among others, by Carlos Celdrán, Jorge Ferrera and Félix Sabroso, who also worked with her in Mentiras...
She has also led the trio Rizando cuerdas, accompanied by bassist Susana Rivero and violinist and vocalist Gladys Silot. The proposals of this group fall within bolero and filin, according to what she told ADN Cuba.
