Cuban singer Waldo Mendoza revealed that he had suffered a traffic accident while returning from a tour of the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo.
Mendoza shared an image of the vehicle's condition on his social networks, showing multiple damages. "(…) I decided to publish this terrible situation that happened to me this morning, returning full of happiness from a beautiful tour through Santiago and Guantánamo", he said.
Despite the incident, the artist thanked the "new opportunity that God gave me", assuring that he would take advantage of it "to give my life to my beloved audience today at the Café Cantante" in Havana. "We continue Spreading Love", he stated.
"Nothing, we came close; but it's still not my time", he added. Thousands of users commented on the singer's post, also thanking him because he suffered no physical damage and could continue sharing his music.
"Showers of blessings because God's protection will always be with you. People who carry love with them and transmit it like you do, are blessed", said an online user.
"He protected you with everything that exists because you are a being of light, your audience and all of us who love you wish you a long life of successes and we want to continue enjoying you, many blessings for you and your family", expressed another.
In Cuba, several accidents have been reported in recent weeks. Last Tuesday, a bus from the Transtur company overturned in Guantánamo with 32 passengers on board, which caused four deaths.
By the end of October 2022, 8,187 traffic accidents were officially recorded, with an average of one fatal victim for every two incidents. The figures indicate an "increase of 27% in incidents, 36% in injuries and 41% in deaths" compared to the previous year, the official press indicated.
