The lead dancers of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), Viengsay Valdés and Dani Hernández, will participate in the international gala Le Etoiles, which will be held at the legendary Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Italy, on March 4 and 5.

The BNC press department also reported that for this occasion the Cuban dancers will perform scenes from the ballet Carmen, by Alberto Alonso, based on the novel by Prospero Mérimée and music by Rodion Schedrin based on the original by Georges Bizet, and Double Bounce by Canadian choreographer Peter Quanz, with music by David Lang and costumes by Anne Armit.

The principal dancers of the Cuban company, Cultural Heritage of the Nation, will share the stage with Eleonora Abbagnato, from the Paris Opera Ballet; Ashley Bouder and Zachary Catazaro, from New York City Ballet; Sergio Bernal, from the National Ballet of Spain; Young Gyu Choi, from Dutch National Ballet; Liudmila Konovalova, from Wiener Staatsballett; Eleonora Sevenard and Denis Rodkin, from the Bolshoi Theater Ballet in Moscow; and Luis Valle, from Ballet Nice Méditerranée.

Once again, our dancers with their performance in this gala demonstrate the high level and versatility of the National Ballet of Cuba, faithful representative of the Cuban school of ballet.
