World medalist in discus throwing Yaimé Pérez returned to competitive routine after deciding to remain in the United States, and break all ties with the Cuban Athletics Federation.

Let us recall that the athlete made the decision not to return to Cuba at the last World Athletics Championship held in the city of Eugene.

According to the Deporcuba website, Yaimé Pérez participated in an invitational competition held in San Diego, California.

Despite the time away from competitive intensity, the Cuban obtained third place with a record of 66 meters and 97 centimeters.

In the Deporcuba publication, it can be read that Yaimé was preceded by American Olympic champion Valerie Allman and Dutch athlete Jorinde Van Klinken who threw 70.25 meters and 67.05 meters respectively.

According to Deporcuba, the sequence of Yaimé Pérez's throws was as follows: 64.81/64.12/66.12/66.76/x/66.97.

In the years when the thrower was part of Cuban delegations, she achieved a world title as her most outstanding result.

She also holds top places in the Diamond League, Continental Cup, Pan American Games, Central American Games, NACAC Championship, and World Under-20 Championship.

On July 26, 2022, she made the decision to leave the Cuban delegation that was participating in the World Athletics Championship in Eugene.

This World Championship became the one with the worst result for Cuba, as for the first time in history they did not win medals of any color.
