"We Are Antidote" online concert by Silvio Rodríguez and other Argentine artists

Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodríguez will join several Argentine musicians and other Latin Americans on the upcoming 26th at a virtual festival organized by the Argentine-Cuban Fraternity Space (EFAC).

We Are Antidote for Our America is the title of the initiative, which will coincide with a special date for Cubans -National Rebellion Day- and will convene from 21:00, Argentine local time, other exponents from the region «who will gift their art to work for a new and more just world post-pandemic», the call states.

The recital, which will be broadcast on Youtube and EFAC's social networks, will be joined by artists such as folklorist Charo Bogarín, founder of the Tonolec duo, and her compatriots Peteco Carabajal and Luciana Jury, Venezuelan Cecilia Todd and Brazilian Duca Leindecker.

From this southern land, the voices of Duratierra, Patricia Malanca, who precisely brought Silvio Rodríguez's songs to tango, Mariano Otero and rocker Daniel Devita, among others, will also be heard.

«For Our America, against the blockade», reads one of the promotion posters for the online festival, in reference to the commercial, financial and economic embargo imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years by the United States, intensified even during times of pandemic, and also to other sister nations victims of this measure such as Venezuela.

In times of preventive physical isolation our peoples need ways to come together, to shorten distances with our cultural strength. To gather around the fire of empathy and solidarity, to continue sowing the seeds of dignity and equality, they point out from EFAC.

The pandemic we are going through, adds that collective, has laid bare the enormous inequalities and injustices of our societies; it has shown that we inhabit one world and no one saves themselves alone.

According to the organizers, We Are Antidote will bring together prominent figures from the region to unite through art for our America in peace, without blockades, without coups, without fascism. Watch it through EFAC's social networks Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
