Silvio Rodríguez and Vicente Feliú will be among the guests who will pay tribute to Luis Eduardo Aute on December 10th at a concert to be held at the WiZink Center in Madrid, coinciding with the celebration of the 75th birthday of the creator of Aleluya, Rosas en el mar, Pasaba por aquí and Al alba.
Along with our artists will be Joan Manuel Serrat, Joaquín Sabina, Ana Belén, Víctor Manuel, Miguel Poveda, Luis Pastor, Rosa León, Cristina Narea, Jorge Drexler, Andrés Suárez, Ismael Serrano, Marwan and Suburbano, among others.
The concert will also celebrate fifty years of artistic life of the distinguished singer-songwriter, who has been away from the stage since August 2016 when he suffered a heart attack that forced him to retire.
Both Silvio and Vicente have shared numerous occasions with Aute, both in Cuba and in Spain, where the BarnaSant Festival takes place every year, dedicated to singer-songwriter music, whose president Pere Camps has also visited Cuba on different occasions.
Aute's last visit to Havana was in 2009 when he participated in the Paz sin fronteras concert. A year earlier he had also been in Havana, on the occasion of the closing of the XIII Barnasants Singer-Songwriter Festival of that year, which for the first time was held outside of Spain. During his stay in the capital, the artist presented his poetry notebook titled Poemigas, at a Saturday of the Book and inaugurated an art exhibition of his paintings at the Universal Art Building of the National Museum of Fine Arts, where he received from the hands of Abel Prieto, then Minister of Culture, the Distinction for National Culture.
He also attended two concerts, one at the Karl Marx theater under the name La trova le canta a Eduardo, in which the voices of Silvio Rodríguez, Vicente and Santiago Feliú, Amaury Pérez, Carlos Varela, Karel García and Liuba María Hevia and her group were heard, and another at the Amadeo Roldán theater where the Solistas de La Habana orchestra directed by maestro Iván Valiente dedicated a performance to him at the Amadeo Roldán theater—which performed Wagneriana, by Leo Brouwer; the Suite del Amor, by Silvio Rodríguez and the Suite Auténtica, by Aute himself, with arrangements by Beatriz Corona; in addition to accompanying Vicente Feliú, Lázaro García and Eduardo Sosa in their performances.
His first musical exchanges with the members of the Cuban Nueva Trova were thanks to some mutual friends who went back and forth between Cuba and Spain. Through several tapes he heard several of our representatives, especially Pablo and Silvio. When he heard those songs he said that he found some brothers with whom he felt totally identified.
