Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez will offer on May 31st the 102nd concert of his "Tour through the Neighborhoods," in which he will have as a guest the National Symphonic Orchestra (OSN), announced the organizers today.
The presentation, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., will take place on Ánimas Street, between Zulueta and Monserrate, in the Prado Popular Council, located in the capital municipality of La Habana Vieja.
At the event, the author of "Ojalá" and "Óleo de mujer con sombrero" will also be accompanied by flutist Niurka González and pianist Jorge Aragón, according to the artist's website.
The concert program will include, in addition to the troubadour's songs, works by Cuban composers Carlos Fariñas, Joaquín Clerch, Alejandro García Caturla and Guido López-Gavilán.
Recently Rodríguez and the OSN, directed by its conductor maestro Enrique Pérez Mesa, performed this repertoire in several Spanish cities, on a successful tour carried out for the celebrations of the orchestra's 60th anniversary.
The "Tour through the Neighborhoods," or "Endless Tour," as Rodríguez called it, began in 2011 with the intention of bringing the troubadour's work to areas of La Habana that were less culturally privileged.
With more than twenty albums in four decades of artistic career, Rodríguez is currently one of the most recognized musicians inside and outside Cuba.
