The Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodríguez sent his condolences today to the Argentine people for the loss of one of their greatest sporting glories, Diego Armando Maradona, whom he described as a Latin American hero.

In statements to Televisión Pública, the author of El Necio emphasized that the Pelusa is a son born from the entrails of the people, a sports hero, but also a hero of the people's feelings, a hero of Latin America and of commitment.

He also highlighted that Maradona was a great friend of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who coincidentally passed away on the same day as the death of the Comandante en Jefe.

He also recalled that Diego was at one of his well-known neighborhood concerts more than a year or two ago and it surprised him.

'He was very affectionate, the people who were there gave him an ovation, he was delighted, I'm glad to have that memory of him, know that I am with you,' expressed the creator of songs such as Ojalá and Óleo de mujer con sombrero.
