The video clip Silencio, by Cuban filmmaker Joseph Ros and performed by Luna Manzanares and Omara Portuondo, won the Lucas Award for Video of the Year, corresponding to 2022
At the ceremony held this Sunday at the Lázaro Peña theater in the capital, Ros also received the award for Best Direction and the work won statuettes in categories such as Best Music Video, Cinematography, by David Cruz, and Art Direction, by Yudith Domínguez.
After a pre-selection of five audiovisual works from the list of the 10 nominees for Most Popular Video, Cubans chose in that category Todo está OK, by Fixty Oddara and Ja Rulay, under the direction of Charles Cabrera.
La fiesta del amor, by Alain Pérez and directed by José Rojas won two Lucas Awards, one in the Popular Dance Music section and another went to Yanelis Pérez for Costume Design for that clip.
In the Fusion and New Artist categories, the award went to Daniel with the video Yiri yiri bon, by Alejandro Pérez, a proposal that joins the Vitrola Cuban Mix project with which great musical pieces from the classic Cuban repertoire are transformed into new genres without losing their essence.
The company Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba was chosen by the jury as Best Choreographic Work, following their participation in the work Espiral, a collaboration between Son Dos and Los Van Van, by filmmaker Felo.
For her part, singer Malaka received recognition in the Acting category, as the protagonist of Entaconá, a song of her own authorship whose video clip was directed by David Cruz.
Cancioncita, by Ivette Ávila Martín and performed by Lien Rodríguez, won as Best Trova Video, while Me encantaría, by Julio Martínez with the performance of Yomil and el Dany, achieved it in Urban Music.
During the second day of Lucas Awards ceremonies, a tribute to singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés, who recently passed away, was held by Ivette Cepeda.
The ceremony also hosted artists of the caliber of Alain Pérez, Leonel Limonta and Azúcar Negra, the Banda de Boyeros, Fixty Oddara and Ja Rulay, and singers Gabi Herrera and Daniel.
Created by Orlando Cruzata, Lucas is a project that has 25 years of presence in the Cuban cultural landscape, in order to promote the work of national filmmakers, who with their video clips accompany the musical creation of emerging and established artists in the greatest of the Antilles.
