Photos of Alicia Alonso Will Be Revealed Through a Book

The text "Alicia and the Wonders of Ballet. Revisitations from Artistry" will reveal images of the exalted dancer in Cuba.

The presentation of the book, signed by photographer Jorge Valiente and journalist Sahily Tabares, will take place on the 18th at the headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.

The prologue of the volume bears the mark of writer and essayist Rafael Acosta, who highlighted the material's ability to weave together two cultural and creative perspectives in harmonious articulation: the visuality of the images and their interpretation.

In the prologue, writer and essayist Rafael Acosta de Arriba emphasizes that the volume brings together two cultural and creative perspectives in harmonious articulation: the visuality of the images and their interpretation.

It recalls that for more than 50 years Valiente photographed Alicia Alonso, from an extraordinary presentation for Cuban soldiers near the American Naval Base at Guantánamo, when the artist danced on top of a military truck bed.

Sahily Tabares was responsible for ensuring that the images compiled in the book establish an intense dialogue, both with the interested reader and ballet enthusiasts, as well as with a simple appreciator of photography.
