The Santiago discus thrower Yaimé Pérez reigned in the Diamond League for the second consecutive edition, defeating her great rival of recent years, Croatian Sandra Perkovic, with a mark of 68.27 meters and a sequence in which she had only one throw below 65 meters.

Sandra Perkovic sent the implement to 66 meters and, although she had dominated six successive Diamond editions during the 2012-2017 period, she now validated it with only three attempts this Friday in Brussels.

The other Cuban discus thrower in competition, the Villa Clara native Denia Caballero, who held the second best record of the athletic season with (69.20) at the Iberoamerican athletics meeting in Huelva, Spain, was not at the level that had led her to lead the diamond circuit, accumulating 30 points, since with (63.53) she finished fourth, behind German Kristin Pudenz (63.73).
