On their Facebook profile, independent film production company Gato Rosa Films announced the start of filming this month of February. In a post, they expressed that they were making their dream come true of making cinema in Eastern Cuba and creating films that reflect the guajira stories from every corner of the country.

Director Capó heads a cast of artists, including Luis Alberto García, Raquel Rey, Arianna Delgado and young Julio Hervis, who will take on the leading role in the film.

In an interview with the Cubanow platform, the director explained that "El Regresado" has moments that are very personal to him, since it deals with a graduate of the School of Art who returns to Gibara to fulfill his social service and wants to make art from a small town, despite the conflicts that arise and the decisions he must make. Although he clarified that it is not an autobiographical film, he also noted that, like his first feature film "Agosto", the new film is inspired by specific moments from his creative memory.

Capó announced that he expects the film to be ready in early 2024, thanks to the ICAIC Development Fund award for this project. The Cuban director graduated from the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) with the documentary "La Marea", which received various accolades at international film festivals. Since then, he has continued his career as a filmmaker and has been recognized for his documentaries "La inercia", "Nos quedamos", "Ausencia" and "La Certeza"
