Long jumper Robiel Yankiel Sol won Cuba's first gold medal today, achieving a mark of 7.41 meters in the track and field competition of the XVII edition of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
According to the website of the Parisian multisport event held at Stade de France, Robiel (T47), world record holder -7.84- and champion in the previous Tokyo 2020 edition, won the title on his fourth jump, after a series of valid jumps of 7.25, 6.44, 7.41 and 7.22, and two invalid ones.
The silver and bronze medals went to Chinese Hao Wang (7.32) and Russian Nikita Kotukov (7.05), who competes for the independent team, respectively.
