Robertlandy Simón in Italian Volleyball Super League

THE CUBAN Robertlandy Simón does not let up in each outing on the court and with another effective performance maintained his leadership in the sweeping victory of Lube Civitanova over Trentino to tie 1-1 the semifinal playoff of the Italian Volleyball Superliga.

Simón once again showed his mastery in the clash that they won 25-23, 25-23 and 25-17 and in which he was nominated Most Valuable Player for his outstanding performance that led him to be the leading scorer with 16 points, of which eight points came directly from service aces in one of the actions in which he continues to shine.

The giant from the capital of the national team also showed his unquestionable security in the attack by scoring in his seven attempts for 100% effectiveness and added one point from blocking.

His compatriots Yoandy Leal and Osmani Juantorena collaborated with 12 and 7 points respectively, according to the Facebook site CubanSp1ke.

In the first match, which went to a tie-break and Civitanova fell with scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 24-26 and 12-15, Robertlandy was also the second most productive on his team with 17 points, including four service aces and two blocks, and in the attack he played at 79% perfection.

Only Juantorena surpassed him by just one point by scoring 18, of which two were aces and one effective attack play at 57%, while Leal contributed 12, including two aces and one block.

The semifinal is scheduled for five games, best-of-five. In the other series the Perugia men already have two victories against Monza, as this Thursday they prevailed 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 31-29, 25-19).

In the previous one they won in five sets (21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12). In both matches the Caribbean player Wilfredo León stood out with 23 and 25 points, respectively.
