A meeting with part of the artistic personnel who participated in the filming of the film The Man from Maisinicú was held this Wednesday in the lobby of the Chaplin cinema, 45 years after the premiere of the film about the martyr of the Struggle Against Bandits, Alberto Delgado Delgado, directed by Manuel Pérez.
The filmmaker situated the genesis of this, his directorial debut, in the interest awakened in him by the theme of the rebels in the Escambray, since being an assistant director in Stories of the Revolution, he took part in some filmings in the city of Santa Clara.
After extensive research, following the assassination of Alberto Delgado in 1961, filming of this film began in the setting of the events, accompanied by a production team that he praised for the spirit of work and collaboration that characterized it.
Actors Mario Balmaseda and Luis Rielo, makeup artist Bárbara Galindo and producer Santiago Llapur also participated with anecdotes about their involvement in the film, in which they highlighted the dedication and solidarity that existed, despite the difficult conditions imposed by the rugged location.
The occasion was opportune for the presentation of the book published by Capitán San Luis Publishing House, Banditry. Defeat of the CIA in Cuba, by Santiago Gutiérrez Oceguera and Pedro Etcheverry Vázquez, the latter in charge of its introduction, along with Luis Rodríguez and Fernando Danilo Castillo, officers of the LCB in the central region of the country, at that time; as well as Alberto Delgado, son.
Details of the actions of the criminal bands and the support that the North American government always gave them were offered during the exchange, in which some of the attendees spoke about the need to keep alive, mainly within the new generations of Cubans, the memory of that heroic period of the revolution.
Likewise, as part of the tribute for the 45th anniversary of the premiere of The Man from Maisinicú in the lobby of the Chaplin, the exhibition Because a Man Without a Face Will Die was inaugurated, with frames from the film.
