René Navarro, National Television Award 2022

Sports narrator and commentator René Navarro Arbelo, who worked for almost five decades in Cuban television, received the National Television Award 2022.

Navarro Arbelo has distinguished himself in the narration of world, panamerican and centrocaribbean competitions in volleyball, athletics, basketball and cycling, among others.

He coined the name for the generation of the women's volleyball team that won almost everything during the nineties as the Spectacular Brown Girls of the Caribbean.

Other recognitions he has received are the Abelardo Raidi Lifetime Achievement Award, granted by the International Association of Sports Press, and the Sports Award for lifetime achievement, granted by the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC).
