United Kingdom Awards National Dance Prize to Cuban Dancer Zeleidy Crespo

Cuban dancer Zeleidy Crespo obtained the 2023 National Dance Prize in the United Kingdom for her outstanding performance in 100% cubano, by Acosta Danza.

Without a doubt, there are many Cubans who fill us with pride because with their fascinating abilities and skills they bring great honor to our Island. Although there are varied disciplines where Caribbean people excel, on this occasion it occurred with the obtaining of an international dance award.

Consequently, it is about Cuban dancer Zeleidy Crespo, who recently received the National Dance Prize of the United Kingdom (UK).

As we reported, last year, the Acosta Danza Academy presented in the United Kingdom the show 100% cubano, under the direction of the great Carlos Acosta. Likewise, for this, this outstanding Cuban choreographer and artist put on stage talented Cuban dancers, with this young woman from Pinar del Río being the main one.

As a result, they managed to surprise the experts from the Dance Section of the Circle of Critics, who decided to recognize their extraordinary work. In this way, they conferred the 2023 National Dance Prize to Cuban dancer Zeleidy Crespo, in the category of "Outstanding Female Performance in Modern Dance".

Thus, this beautiful woman from Pinar del Río has been the subject of countless praise and accolades from experts; obtaining, in addition to the prize, their respect and admiration. Led by Carlos Acosta, the Acosta Danza group presented this performance in London during the first months of 2022, with the award winner as the principal figure.

A native of Pinar del Río, Crespo began her dance studies in 2001. She started with Santiago Alfonso's company, with which she participated in the works Jazz, Obba Yuru and Maria Antonia, among others.

The United Kingdom National Dance Prizes are organized by the Dance Section of the Circle of Critics, which brings together more than 60 writers and dance specialists.

They are the only prizes awarded by the body of professional dance critics in the United Kingdom.
