Carlos Acosta will re-premiere the work On Before in the United Kingdom

The renowned Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta announced the re-premiere of the work On Before, which he will star in at the Norwich Theatre Royal, which will tour several venues in the United Kingdom.

Through his social media, Acosta stated that he feels delighted to be part of the Norwich Theatre Royal and perform On Before, a piece that I created ten years ago and is very close to my heart, he specified.

The first long-running production undertaken by the European institution, scheduled for July, is a tribute from the Cuban winner of the Dance Magazine Award 2020 to his late mother and the most personal work he has created.

During an interview available on the official website of Norwich Theatre Royal, the artist highlighted the importance of the production at a time when the ballet industry seeks to recover from the most catastrophic year due to COVID-19.

The piece embodies the amazing vision of Acosta's dance and features collaborations with leading creators of the genre in the region, among them, Russell Maliphant, Kim Brandstrup, Will Tuckett, Raul Reinoso, Yury Yanowsky.

According to a statement, audiences will be able to appreciate the production at four relevant venues such as The Lowry in Salford, The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton and The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.

With a solid career in the United Kingdom, the also choreographer leads the Birmingham Royal Ballet, one of the most relevant British classical ensembles while he shone as a star of the Royal Ballet of London for years.

His performances as a guest stand out in most of the world's major theaters and companies such as the Paris Opera, in France, the Bolshoi Ballet, in Russia, the American Ballet Theatre and the Houston Ballet, in the United States.

Among his numerous distinctions are the Award from the Circle of British Critics for his Services to the Arts and the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire. (
