Among the songs that became iconic in Cuba and in most Latin American countries in the mid-twentieth century—and which are still maintained in the repertoire of many artists—are those titled "En nosotros", performed by numerous Cuban vocalists—among whom Tito Gómez stood out with Enrique Jorrrín's orchestra in the 1970s—and from other places, such as the Chilean Lucho Gatica; as well as "Recordaré tu boca", of which the brilliant version by Omara Portuondo is remembered, accompanied on piano by Chucho Valdés; and "Me encontrarás", immortalized in the respective voices of Moraima Secada and Rosita Fornés.
Those songs, like many others that moved the feelings and emotions of several generations of romantics, were composed by a humble and simple woman, Zoila Castellanos, known by the artistic name of Tania, whom we evoke today, June 27th, on the occasion of the centennial of her birth, which occurred in the overseas city of Regla, homeland of renowned figures of our music, among them the famous singers Roberto Faz and Clara and Mario (Clara Morales and Mario Rodríguez, The dynamic duo of Cuba).
