Guinness Record for Ball Control for Johen Lefont

At the swimming pool of the Hotel Melía Cohiba, Cuban athlete in ball control, Johen Lefont, managed to set 2 records, which he will present to Guinness for ratification.

The first was attempting to make the greatest number of touches to a soccer ball with the head in 1 minute, floating inside the water, a modality in which he achieved 162 touches.

The second record, conquered by Lefont at the swimming pool of Hotel Melía Cohiba, was 1664 consecutive touches to the ball with the head, floating inside the water, thus surpassing his previous record of 1513 set last year.

The so-called Cuban Dolphin of ball control, is setting himself a new challenge, which he could achieve next September, by swimming across a 50-meter pool with the ball static on his head, in the shortest time possible.

In this way, and after several months of inactivity due to an injury in the cervical area, the football dolphin surpassed his previous records of most impacts to the ball with the head in one minute, which was 162, and the longest distance covered with the ball balanced on his head, set at 325 meters. Both of these records were held by the former Matanzas player.

"I am pleased with the result, because it is quite difficult to achieve the objective. They are two completely different modalities. The first depends greatly on the speed and synchronization of arms and legs, while the other requires concentration.

"The distance test, more than a record, was a commitment to Havana for its 500 years, as we did with the 325th anniversary of the City of Matanzas. Everything went well, in the end I was able to combine the events and establish the result," declared the record holder, who added that he was a bit anxious in the opening moments and thanked the support of his team and family members.

Lefont commented that he will continue his preparation to take on in the coming months the record of 1664, also set by him, in the category of most touches to the leather ball.
