With the presentation of the Lucía de Honor award, the highest honor granted by the Gibara International Film Festival (FICGibara), to renowned actor Jorge Perugorría, the 17th edition of the film festival in that city in the north of Holguín province came to a close.

At the awards gala, held this Saturday at the Jibá Cinema in the White Village of the Crabs, the jury in the fiction feature category decided to award the prize to the feature film "Petit Nature," for its forceful dramatic narrative in approaching gender awareness, which was directed by Samuel Theis, from France.

The prize for fiction short film went to "Fin," by director Fernando Reinaldos, from the United States, which shows through the audiovisual a raw and sensitive exposition around old age and death.

The statuette in the documentary feature film category went to the audiovisual "Virgilio desde el gabinete azul," directed by Raydel Araoz, for reconstructing the work of playwright, narrator and poet Virgilio Piñeira based on the representation of his autobiography and excellent aesthetic proposals.

Also in this section, the Cuban documentary short film "Todos los días son ocho de marzo," by Lizzete Vila, Sergio Cabrera and Ingrid León, received the laurel.

For five days FICGibara took place, this year paying homage to the 20 years since its founding by the distinguished director Humberto Solás and transforming the White Village into a cultural center where the diverse manifestations of art merge with cinema and audiovisual.
