The outstanding Cuban choreographer, director, and pedagogue Lizt Alfonso received the Order of Isabella the Catholic this Thursday at the headquarters of the Spanish Embassy in Havana, presented by ambassador Ángel Martín Peccis.
As part of Spain's Cultural Week in Cuba, Alfonso received this recognition for her work, and Excelencias interviewed her exclusively at the end of the ceremony.
The talented director of Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba told the President of Grupo Excelencias, José Carlos de Santiago: "I feel very honored to receive such an important and cherished order. There are no words that can describe the joy and satisfaction felt in receiving an order like this."
She added that she felt "very grateful to the people who thought of me after so many years of work for the benefit of children, young people and Hispanic culture and its development in Cuba."
As part of Spain's Cultural Week in Cuba, the Martí theater in Havana vibrated with the Hispanidad Gala: traces and steps. All the companies that took the stage overflowed with art and dedication.
The closing was carried out with the classic Strength and Rhythm, by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, a presentation that unleashed applause and bravos from the audience on more than one occasion.
The Order of Isabella the Catholic aims to reward extraordinary civil behaviors, carried out by Spanish and foreign persons, which benefit the Iberian nation or that contribute, in a notable way, to favor relations of friendship and cooperation of that country with the rest of the international community.
His Majesty the King is the Grand Master of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. All decorations of this Order are conferred in his name and the corresponding titles are authorized with the stamp of his signature.
