Dr. Miriam Nicado Receives Honorary Academic Status from the Academy of Sciences of Cuba

Miriam Nicado García, Doctor of Mathematical Sciences. Full Professor received the condition of Honorary Academic of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba (ACC) from the hands of the President of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba Dr. Luis Velázquez,

In a solemn ceremony held in Room 250 of the UH and as part of the activities for the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Academy Dr. Miriam Nicado García, Doctor of Mathematical Sciences, Full Professor and Rector of the University of Havana and first woman to hold such a prestigious position in the 290 years of the oldest institution of higher education in the country.

The Rector thanked this high decoration and expressed: "Being part of such an exalted group of professors, of personalities of science in Cuba, (…) is a source of pride and joy (…) Being a member of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba is a most high commitment to all of academia, to all scientists, to all the people, who expect from us that we contribute and transform every day what the country requires to be transformed (…)"
