The prominent Cuban musician and composer Raúl Torres performed yesterday Monday and today Tuesday in the province of Camagüey, as part of his most recent national tour.

Monday's concert was in the municipality of Vertientes, while today he will sing at the Avellaneda theater, in the city, at eight thirty in the evening.

Considered one of the most prolific composers in the Cuban music scene, his anthological works, such as Candil de nieve, Regrésamelo todo, Se fue; have been performed by renowned musicians, including Pablo Milanés, Spanish Ana Belén, Brazilian Simone, and Los Van Van.

In addition to these and other love songs, Raúl Torres has become a chronicler of the greatest recent events in Cuban history. His is Cabalgando con Fidel, that kind of anthem with which we grateful Cubans bid farewell to the leader of the Cuban Revolution after his physical departure on November 25, 2016, and whom he evoked a year later with Laureles y olivos.

Hugo Chávez was also a source of inspiration for Raúl Torres, whom he praised with his song El regreso del amigo. He recently premiered El último mambí, a tribute song to Raúl Castro.

Following the air accident of May 18 in Havana, the musician composed Hotel Tulipán, a song-poem dedicated to the families of the victims.

Raúl Torres's most recent national tour began in the eastern province of Guantánamo last July, in the municipality of Caimanera.

His previous presentation in Camagüey was in 2015, at the headquarters of the Unión de Escritores y Artistas Cuba and the Asociación Hermanos Saíz.
