Cuban outfielder Randy Arozarena, of the Seattle Mariners, hit a grand slam on Saturday, July 4, 2026, powering his team to an 11-0 rout of the Toronto Blue Jays in a game played on Independence Day.
Arozarena delivered the decisive blow in the second inning, driving a hanging slider from Blue Jays starter Shane Bieber over the left-field wall during a five-run frame in which Seattle sent nine batters to the plate. It was the third grand slam of the Pinar del Río native's major league career and gave the Mariners a 5-0 lead. With the home run, Arozarena became only the second player in Mariners franchise history to hit a grand slam on the Fourth of July.
Mariners starter Logan Gilbert was dominant on the mound, carrying a one-hitter into the eighth inning while striking out seven over 7 1/3 innings. The only baserunner he allowed came in the fifth, when Yohendrick Piñango hit a weak floater into shallow left-center that dropped in front of Victor Robles. Catcher Cal Raleigh and outfielder Dominic Canzone also homered for Seattle, while Bieber fell to 0-1 on the season.
